WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan recently sat down with Chris Jericho for his “Talk With Jericho” podcast.
The two discussed several wrestling-related topics, including why Daniel Bryan changed his name from his real name “Bryan Danielson” upon his debut in WWE.
Bryan explained that the company wanted the change because they wanted to own the rights to his name. If he were to leave, he wouldn’t be able to make money off of it with other competing organizations.
William Regal helped Bryan conjure up several ideas, including “Daniel Bryan.”
He admitted that several of his independent fans who followed him during his time with Ring of Honor were not happy with the change, but that he understood the nature of the business and why it was necessary.
One of the crazier names he suggested was Buddy Peacock, his personal favourite. He liked the idea of fans chanting either “Buddy” or “Peacock” during his matches.
Another name on his list was Lloyd Boñier.

Buddy Peacock. Need I say more? Give that moniker to a guy like Zack Ryder and watch him soar up the WWE ladder.
