During the “WWE Money in the Bank” Kickoff show on Sunday night, Michael Cole conducted an in-ring interview with former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan.

During the segment, Bryan revealed that his recovery from a recent neck surgery is taking longer than expected.

“The strength hasn’t come back in my arm and they’re [doctors] talking about maybe doing another surgery,” said Bryan.

“I promise you I will be back, and when I’m back, I’m going to be better than ever.”

If Bryan does undergo a second surgery, that would undoubtedly keep him on the shelf until 2015 at the very earliest.

Bryan was stripped of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship by Stephanie McMahon on the June 9 edition of “Monday Night Raw.” He won the gold in a triple threat match against Batista and Randy Orton at WrestleMania 30.

John Cena won the vacant title in an eight-person Ladder match at “WWE Money in the Bank.”

Editor’s Note

A 2015 return would only apply if Bryan does need more surgery, but that’s completely up in the air at this point. It’s still disheartening to see how long his current recovery is taking, though.
