We reported earlier this month that the potential of The Undertaker working a match at WrestleMania 31 “wasn’t looking good,” according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
PWInsider.com has now confirmed that report, noting that Undertaker is in really bad shape and has yet to fully recover from the concussion he received at WrestleMania 30 against Brock Lesnar.
His status for WrestleMania 31 will remain up in the air until later this year.
Following the Lesnar encounter, Undertaker collapsed backstage and was rushed via ambulance to a medical facility in New Orleans. Lesnar won the match, ending his historic winning streak at the event.
Undertaker was rumoured to be facing Sting at WrestleMania 31, but those plans appear to be scrapped, at least for the time being.
Editor’s Note
It’s looking more and more likely that Undertaker will never wrestle again for WWE. The 49-year-old can’t withstand the training or physicality of working a 20 minute match at this stage of his career. Now that his streak is over, there’s really no need for him to get in a wrestling ring, unless he wants one final match to put a ribbon on things.
