According to a report by The Wrestling Observer, Brock Lesnar is still scheduled to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at some point this summer.
That could come as early as Aug. 17 at WWE “SummerSlam” in a match against John Cena.
Not only will Lesnar be working the aforementioned special event, but he’ll also be competing at WWE “Night of Champions” as well.
There are even talks of Lesnar working WWE “Battleground” to help put the wheels in motion for a potential Cena bout.
During the June 30 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” Triple H announced that Cena would have to defend his WWE World Heavyweight Championship at “Battleground” on July 20 against Randy Orton, Kane and Roman Reigns. He then claimed that if Cena manages to survive that match as champion, that he will initiate The Authority’s “Plan B.”
The “Plan B.” is expected to be Lesnar.
There is no word yet at to how many dates he’ll be working after the “Night of Champions” event.
Early plans for the WrestleMania 31 main event have Lesnar defending the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Reigns. For him to carry the belt that long, Lesnar would need to work a lot more dates than his contract currently dictates.
It remains to be see if that will be the case.
Editor’s Note
The problem with Lesnar is that after ending Undertaker’s WrestleMania winning streak in New Orleans, WWE can’t afford for him to lose immediately following that victory. If he becomes champion, he essentially has to be on television nearly all the time. I’m not sure he’s willing to do that.
