In the main event of WWE “SummerSlam” on Aug. 17, John Cena will defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Brock Lesnar.
All signs are pointing towards Lesnar becoming the new champion and carrying the belt into the all-important “Night of Champions” pay-per-view in September. The staff at WrestlingRumors.net agrees as every member of the team picked Lesnar to emerge with the gold.
F4WOnline.com is reporting that if Lesnar wins the title on Sunday night, that is in no way an indication that he’ll remain champion through WrestleMania 31 next year.
Early plans have Roman Reigns challenging Lesnar at WrestleMania 31 in Santa Clara.
Justin LaBar of WrestleZone.com is also reporting that there is still a chance Lesnar doesn’t even get past Cena at “SummerSlam.” There is major skepticism on the part of Cena as he’d rather not drop the WWE World Heavyweight Championship to a performer who won’t be making regular appearances on television.
Editor’s Note
WWE struggled in their attempts to conjure up a feasible plan with the title when Daniel Bryan went down with a severe neck injury. They could be moments away from repeating that entire process should Lesnar go over Cena.
