The WWE spent a good portion of this week’s RAW and Smackdown discussing the upcoming “Superstar Swap,” which is their kind of silly name for the fact they are going to be doing a roster shakeup. This is beneficial from a storytelling perspective, because it gets fans excited about the possibilities and a trade can help shape the angle for any wrestler that gets sent from one show to the other. However, it can also help out the wrestlers. Let’s face it, not every wrestler is thriving on their particular show. To paraphrase Sheryl Crow, a change could do them good. With that in mind, here are three wrestlers from each brand that could really use a change of scenery.
Bo Dallas: You may not even remember that Dallas is on the RAW roster, because he rarely, if ever, pops up on the show. Meanwhile, his brother (in real life if not in kayfabe) Bray Wyatt is doing just fine over on Smackdown, a boring feud with Randy Orton notwithstanding. Wyatt excels when he has a true Wyatt Family around him. Recently, though, it’s just been him and one other guy, and it has been a revolving door of other guys. Send Dallas over to Smackdown and have him get indoctrinated into the Wyatt Family. Suddenly, the Wyatts look more formidable, and Dallas actually has something to do, even if it is just playing second fiddle.
Big E: The New Day has run its course. They broke the tag team title record, but since then they’ve been floundering. It’s time to break up New Day, at least in part. Let Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods stay together as a tag team. Big E can make it work as a singles competitor over on the blue brand. He’s got the charisma, and he certainly has the combination of size and agility the WWE likes.
Rusev: Right now, Rusev is injured, but that probably makes it the perfect time to trade him. He had no direction on RAW. Let him return healthy and pop up on Smackdown, and he can tear it up in the midcard, perhaps even contend for the Intercontinental Title.
Luke Harper: Now that Harper is no longer a member of the Wyatt Family, it’s best to just get him away from that whole storyline. Let him start fresh somewhere new. He’s not exactly ready to contend for the Universal Title, but he could be someday. For now, he would provide a spark to the middle of the card and free of the shackles of the Wyatts he can grow as a performer and as a character.
Kalisto: This seems pretty simple. RAW has a cruiserweight division. Smackdown does not. Get Kalisto in that cruiserweight division. Reunite the Lucha Dragons. This doesn’t have to be rocket science.
Carmella: RAW, being three hours long, can handle another female wrestler, whereas Smackdown’s women’s division feels a bit crowded. The James Ellsworth schtick has run its course. I’m personally not a fan of Enzo and Big Cass, but if you align Carmella with those two as a face, she’ll get over. Even I have to begrudgingly admit that.
