Sting and Triple H had a slow start to their match. While it continued, the pace finally picked up, as excitement intensified when DX and nWo made their ways to the ring.
These two renowned groups have made sporadic appearances over the years, but besides Billy Gunn and Road Dogg, these stables have done the same thing: talk and talk, as oppose to getting physical. However, this changed at WrestleMania 31 when DX and nWo decided to go at it. No one was hurt, but it was just great to see any sort of action from wrestling legends.
For the most part, WCW has recently been referred to only when Sting was the topic of discussion, but at WrestleMania 31, the old company was brought back to life when four WCW competitors were side-by-side. nWo was made up three Hall of Fame members who haven’t done any on-screen fighting, which is why it was great to see a change of style. It’s not everyday that you see a notorious stable go face-to-face with another incredible group. It is known that DX made their mark on pro wrestling long ago. At WrestleMania 31, they continued to entertain fans. The crowd went nuts when both groups started to brawl outside of the ring.
The best part of the two groups’ appearances was that it was such an unusual occurrence, yet it was also intriguing. Fans’ jaws dropped when the stables arrived. Even better, fans’ eyes went crazy, trying to keep up with the fast-pace action in and out of the ring.
Many fans did not expect Triple H to come out victorious, but there was no better ending to a match, than seeing eight legends in the same exact ring. Unlike most match-ups, Triple H and Sting actually shook hands. Sportsmanship is something we rarely see in WWE, especially when it’s shown by two arch rivals.
This match did not go as planned, but it’s safe to say that the change of customs turned a good match, into a great match.
