During almost all of ECW’s tenure, The Sandman was there to put on one hell of a show.

This icon had many accomplishments in ECW, most notably his world title reigns. He won the ECW World Heavyweight Championships a record five different times.

His persona always comes to mind when someone says the word “hardcore”.

The Sandman was known for coming to the ring with a lit cigarette and a can of beer. Even better, he would smash the can over his forehead, making him bloody before his matches even started.`

Also, he was known for the innovation of Singapore Canes (kendo sticks). This was because of his infamous caning incident with Tommy Dreamer.

Another aspect of his career is his legendary feud with Raven. This would go down as one of ECW most intense, violent rivalries.

Just by looking at him, fans would know The Sandman was one tough man.

Because of his legacy, The Sandman was inducted to the Hardcore Hall of Fame in 2007.

When ECW closed in 2001, The Sandman still had a whole career ahead of him.

He would wrestle in Total Nonstop Action (TNA) and World Wrestling Entertainment (ECW). While in WWE, he mostly worked in the ECW brand.

No matter where he wrestled, The Sandman truly embodied what it means to be “hardcore”.
