With the news that the rape investigation against Eric Anthony Arndt, aka Enzo Amore, is now closed, many fans are clamoring for a comeback of one of WWE’s most colorful and bombastic superstars.
As an elite performer, Arndt was completely vested in his “Enzo Amore” character. The man arguably cut some of the funniest promos in recent years. Check out this award-winning compilation video:
So, where does Enzo Amore go from here?
Shortly after the announcement that Enzo’s case was closed, social media lit up like fireflies on a warm summer’s night, calling for Enzo Amore to join Impact Wrestling or the Bullet Club’s “All In”. In a press call with Don Callis, the possibility of bringing in Amore was discussed. Callis has intriguingly left the door wide open:
“Never say never. You evaluate talent based on need and what you’re looking to do. We have a long-term plan for how we engage with talent in terms of who’s gonna be on the roster, what roster spots we need filled, etcetera. It’s not as much of a random thing. So, um, ya know … as with any other talent, I think time will tell.”
With any luck, Enzo Amore will be back and again delivering his signature insults:
Opinion:
Prior to the rape allegations, Enzo Amore had more than a handful of detractors calling for his firing. The backstage heat surrounding him was well known and in part, may have been due to him being so effective as a heel. He was infamously kicked off a WWE company bus by Roman Reigns. Reigns is also no stranger to accusations. It was just a few months ago when he was in the headlines for allegedly being involved in a steroid distribution ring. Unlike Amore, we didn’t see Roman pulled from TV or fired.
Enzo Amore’s dramatic excursion from the ring may provide a path for him to come back stronger and better than ever. Heck, he even started shaving. He might very well join “All In” and I hope he does. “All In” is captained by true wrestling genius. Enzo belongs with genius. If he does go All In, viewership will fly higher than the Jordan’s he draped over those telephone lines a few weeks back.
In the words of “Vinny Mac”, “You don’t know what you have until you don’t have it anymore”. In my eyes, WWE made a mistake firing Enzo. Honestly, I doubt very much even if WWE were to grovel at Enzo’s new Jordan’s or Max’s or Pump’s that he would ever want to go back. With the independent wrestling scene gaining traction, we may just get to see his elite genius again.
