Through the past couple of days, on the first and second days of March in 2015, Bill DeMott, the head trainer of WWE’s developmental territory NXT, made headlines for the wrong reasons. DeMott came under fire from professional wrestling fans, following allegations made by former NXT developmental talent Austin Matelson, known as Judas Devlin in NXT.
The allegations came to light when Matelson appeared on “Vendetta Pro Radio 2K15” to speak on the subject. Since then, in the previous hyperlink, Matelson’s alleged email to WWE’s higher-ups from March of 2013 surfaced.
This was not the first time Bill DeMott had damning accusations made against him. Starting in late 2012, former WWE developmental talent Kevin Matthews feverishly went after DeMott, with similar allegations to Matelson’s. In fact, Matthews took to his Twitter account, again commenting on the subject, shortly after Matelson’s words created a stir.
With the traction this story has been getting, PWInsider contacted WWE on the matter. The company issued the following statement to the website in regards to Bill DeMott, who is still working as WWE’s head trainer at this time:
“WWE took the accusations made two years ago by Austin Matelson very seriously, conducted a full investigation and was unable to validate the claims. Regardless, WWE continues to reinforce policies and procedures to ensure a positive training environment.”
Editor’s Note
I really hope the accusations against DeMott are not true, but a lot of former WWE developmental talent are beginning to speak up with similar stories.
