As we previously reported, Santa Clara was chosen as the host city for WrestleMania 31. Soon after WWE made it official with an announcement, the reasoning behind choosing Santa Clara was revealed. Our report stated that Philadelphia showed a lack of interest in hosting the event, and made it seem that it was doing WWE a favor by hosting the event.

In response to those reports, WWE released the following statement to a Philadelphia news affiliate:

“While Philadelphia expressed a great interest in hosting Wrestlemania in 2015 and 2016, the fact is the city did not submit a formal proposal because the facilities necessary to host ancillary events weren’t available. Philadelphia remains a strong market for WWE in all aspects of our business.”

In related news, there have already been rumors surfacing that Arlington, Texas will host WrestleMania 32.
