There is a rumor floating around, as reporting by PWInsider.com, that Philadelphia cost itself WrestleMania 31 in the bidding process.

The report states that Santa Clara showed much more initiative in bringing the event to its city and to the new Levi’s Stadium, while Philadelphia took the situation more for granted and made it appear as if it was doing the company a favor.

Philly recently hosted the Money in the Bank pay-per-view this past July at the Wells Fargo Center, though it is likely the bid would have resulted in WrestleMania being held at nearby Lincoln Financial Field. Ultimately, WWE went with Santa Clara.
