Over the past month, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns have started their singles career in WWE. The three men who started The Shield at “Survivor Series” in 2012 went their separate ways, following Seth Rollins turning on the group. Dean Ambrose continues his efforts to exact revenge on Rollins, who with the help of The Authority, holds a Money in the Bank briefcase. On the other hand, Reigns looks to claim the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at “Battleground.”
According to the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, we may not have seen the last of The Shield. The newsletter reports that WWE already has tentative plans for The Shield to have a reunion in late 2015 or early 2016. It would see the trio kept apart, but be brought together for a brief time period.
If the reunion found success, it could become something that occurs every couple of years. The process would be similar to the past reunions of D-Generation X. In addition to reuniting on the 1000th episode of “Monday Night Raw,” DX reunited on January 10, 2013, at NXT tapings. Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Billy Gunn, and Sean “X-Pac” Waltman reunited at the tapings, making Kevin Nash an honorary member.
Editor’s Note
It’s kind of funny that WWE is talking about something so far down the road. Nonetheless, I would love to see The Shield reunion.
