As seen during the June 2 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” Stephanie McMahon made two possible matches for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at “Money in the Bank.” If current champion Daniel Bryan were able to compete, he’d face Kane in a Stretcher match. However, if he is unable to compete, the traditional Money in the Bank Ladder match would instead be for Bryan’s title. The announcement was made because WWE has no idea whether Bryan will be ready come the event.
Over the past week, things have seemed to gone awry for Daniel Bryan. For one, we recently reported that Bryan may actually be declining in strength, following neck surgery to relieve nerve pressure. Additionally, Bryan was removed from advertisements for the June 24 edition of “Smackdown,” the last taping of WWE programming before “Money in the Bank.”
In a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it reports that Bryan may wrestle at “Money in the Bank,” even if it’s not the best thing for his health. Though nothing is definitive, some believe Bryan will wrestle at “Money in the Bank” because of his mental toughness and his eagerness to always be in the thick of things.
Additionally, the report notes that within WWE, there is a tremendous amount of pressure on Bryan to wrestle at “Money in the Bank.” Whether it’s directly said, or implied, this pressure exists for Bryan to be ready come June 29.
Editor’s Note
It’s amazing that Bryan’s status for “Money in the Bank” is very up in the air, three weeks prior to the event. I could only imagine how much pressure there is upon him to wrestle, even if it’s not the best thing for him.
