According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there are major conversations going on backstage between WWE officials about John Cena’s next feud, it it could be with the man who now resides in Moscow, Russia.

The report states Rusev may be in line for a major push. “The Bulgarian Brute” would be then paired with Cena in a feud that would see him in the main event scene with the 14-time World champion.

Rusev made his official main roster debut in January at the “Royal Rumble” pay-per-view, and began appearing on WWE television regularly after WrestleMania. At “Payback,” he successfully defeated Big E, who was rumored to be in line for a program with Cena down the line as well.

Regarding Cena, rumors have persisted he will be involved in a feud with Sheamus headed into “SummerSlam.” This would require a heel turn on behalf of the current WWE United States Champion, however. Rusev is already a heel, with his anti-American gimmick being the fuel behind his undefeated start thus far.

Editor’s Note

It really seemed like a matter of time in this regard, but I hope they don’t force this. Rusev has a ton of potential, but he needs to be groomed a bit more before he can hang with WWE’s best.
