During the wee hours of Sunday, July 27, we reported that Spike was going to cancel “Impact Wrestling” by not renewing its contract with the wrestling promotion in October. However, the following day, both Spike and Dixie Carter claimed that negotiations are still ongoing. Despite the two sides maintaining that nothing is definitive, one of TNA’s writers, David Lagana, has reportedly already looked to return to Ring of Honor.
F4WOnline has recently provided an update on the situation. The website reported that TNA has sent emails to all of its talent, which state that any rumors that Spike has canceled “Impact Wrestling” are false. Additionally, a recent edition of the website’s “Wrestling Observer Radio” has shed light on the situation. On the show, it was said that the company is playing this off in a manner similar to how they played off rumors of TNA being for sale in late 2013.
The website went on to discuss how much money TNA has lost over the years. There is no definitive or exact figure, but as of three years ago, the company reportedly lost $45 million. However, afterwards, TNA’s losses have not been at such a rapid pace. Though, the company is still losing money.
Editor’s Note
The first part of the report is not that surprising, but the final part is. For TNA’s popularity level, losing $15 million a year is staggering.
