The fall season for WWE is typically its toughest in regards to the in-ring product and competition for its flagship program, “Monday Night Raw.” With ESPN’s regular season showings of “Monday Night Football” occurring weekly for the past seven weeks, viewership for “Monday Night Raw” has taken a substantial hit.
Two weeks ago, it was revealed that viewership for the Oct. 6 showing of “Monday Night Raw” was the lowest since May. Things would not improve for WWE, as the following week, viewership for the Oct. 13 episode of “Monday Night Raw” slightly dropped again from 3.791 to 3.751 million viewers. Transitioning to this week, according to TVByTheNumbers.com, “Monday Night Raw” viewership has decreased yet again, as the Oct. 20 showing of the program garnered an average of 3.695 million viewers.
Below are the hourly breakdowns:
Hour 1: 3.589 million viewers
Hour 2: 3.864 million viewers
Hour 3: 3.631 million viewers
One positive note for WWE is that viewership did not decrease throughout the entire show, contrary to last week. Viewership only decreased for the final hour, despite an appearance by WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley. Despite the second hour drawing in more viewers, being the “go-home” edition of “Monday Night Raw” leading to the 2014 “Hell in a Cell” pay-per-view, the overall dip in already low viewership numbers is nothing to be content with.
Editor’s Note
It’s amazing that viewership continues to fall. It may help to advertise appearances from guys like Mick Foley and The Rock to see if there is any effect.
