As we previously reported, WWE may very well change its original plans, and not have John Cena walk out the WWE World Heavyweight Champion at “Money in the Bank.” Cena has been the odds-on favorite for the match since its announcement. He became even more of a favorite after a poster for “SummerSlam” leaked. The poster, which has since been confirmed by WWE, sees Cena alongside Brock Lesnar. Though, the leaked poster is also why Cena has been discussed to not take home championship gold.

Shortly before the poster surfaced, it became evident that Brock Lesnar would face the WWE World Heavyweight Champion at “SummerSlam.” WWE issued a survey on the matter, and it was discussed following plans for Daniel Bryan vs. Brock Lesnar being called off.

In an update to the situation, F4WOnline reported on a possible finish to “Money in the Bank,” which would see Cena not walk out the champion. The website notes that WWE has discussed a swerve finish which would see Randy Orton become the new champion. The match would also play out in a way that would lead to a Triple Threat match at “Battleground.” Orton would defend his title against both Cena and Roman Reigns. At the event, Cena would then claim championship gold, leading to his match with Lesnar at “SummerSlam.”

Editor’s Note

This would certainly be an interesting way to not have Cena walk out champ. It would make for an out of left field surprise finish, which would probably still end in people complaining, despite Cena not winning.
