On Tuesday, Nov. 25, WWE taped the Nov. 28 episode of “Smackdown,” the first showing of the program following the 2014 “Survivor Series” pay-per-view. The show would feature the debut of The New Day faction, which features Xavier Woods, Big E, and Kofi Kingston. On the Nov. 24 showing of “Monday Night Raw,” the trio was advertised to appear on next week’s “Raw” on Dec. 1, which many presumed would be its debut date.
However, its debut would actually come on “Smackdown,” three days prior to the Dec. 1 “Raw” going on the air. The New Day would appear in matching garb, similar to that in The New Day vignettes, blue in color. The group had its own titantron effect and theme song, as Woods, Kingston, and Big E worked their first match together under The New Day. The three defeated Heath Slater, Titus O’Neil, and Curtis Axel in a six-man match. They worked as babyfaces, and would have some fun with commentators Michael Cole, JBL, and Tom Phillips after the match.
A faction between Woods, Kingston, and Big E had been planned for months. Beginning in late July, the three were beginning to form their faction. This continued for a couple of weeks, but would eventually fail to be progressed. Though, on occasion, the trio would work house shows together. WWE reportedly held back on the faction due to increased racial tensions throughout the United States.
Here in November, the faction, which was once rumored to be a reboot of the ever so popular Nation of Domination, was rebuilt and pushed as The New Day. It began with a series of vignettes with Xavier Woods, which then included Kofi Kingston, and finally featured Big E.

Editor’s Note
I don’t expect them to last as babyfaces for long, but we’ll have to wait and see.
