On March 9, WWE aired another edition of “Monday Night Raw” in preparation for WrestleMania 31, which is less than three weeks away. The showing of WWE’s flagship program emanated from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, featuring a special guest appearance from Grammy-nominated rapper Wiz Khalifa.
According to TVByTheNumbers.com, the March 9 showing of “Monday Night Raw” averaged 3.859 million viewers, up ever so slightly from the past week’s figure of 3.825 million. For the third time in four weeks, “Monday Night Raw” failed to draw in four million viewers.
Below is the hourly viewership breakdown for the March 9 episode of “Monday Night Raw:”
Hour 1: 3.699 million viewers
Hour 2: 3.937 million viewers
Hour 3: 3.940 million viewers
One positive to draw for WWE is the fact that viewership increased throughout the night, with a very slight bump heading into its third and final hour. Though, the stagnant viewership from previous weeks is a bit concerning, as the March 9 “Raw” featured an appearance from WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar. Additionally, both The Undertaker and Sting communicated messages to their WrestleMania 31 foes, but did not appear in the flesh.
For the night, “Monday Night Raw” was both the most-viewed and highest-rated cable program. “Raw” edged “Better Call Saul” and VH1’s “Love & Hip Hop” series, obtaining a 1.4 rating for adults aged 18-49.
Editor’s Note
Wow. This should be alarmingly troubling to WWE. There are now just two more showings of “Monday Night Raw” left prior to WrestleMania, and the company is failing to capitalize with its usual increased viewership.
