On Tuesday, Sept. 9, WWE taped the Sept. 12 edition of “Smackdown” in Wilkes Barre, Pa. at the Mohegan Sun Arena. Thanks to Twitter correspondents @esw01407 and TJ Prontnicki (@tprot05) for the succeeding spoilers.
Below are the spoilers for the Sept. 12 showing of “Smackdown:”
1. The Usos, Big Show, and Mark Henry def. Stardust, Goldust, Erick Rowan, and Luke Harper– Bray Wyatt is out with his brethren, watching from his rocking chair on the stage. The bout is described as a good back-and-forth bout, with one slip up from The Usos. At one point in the match, Bray Wyatt and Big Show come face-to-face, but no punches are thrown. The babyface team picks up the victory upon The Usos connecting with a splash, just prior to a Big Show “KO Punch.” Jimmy Uso, bad knee and all, pins Stardust.
A backstage promo with Seth Rollins, Randy Orton, and Kane airs. The trio talks about how they ended Roman Reigns on the Sept. 8 showing of “Monday Night Raw.” The main event for the night will be Randy Orton and Seth Rollins vs. Chris Jericho and Roman Reigns
2. Bo Dallas def. Justin Gabriel Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter are ringside. Prior to the match, Zeb Colter cuts a patriotic promo. Dallas picks up the victory in convincing fashion. However, afterwards, Swagger chases Dallas out of the ring. A match at “Night of Champions” seems to be in the cards.
3. Paige def. Summer Rae (w/ Layla)– AJ Lee is ringside, set for commentary. As is the case with AJ Lee appearing, “CM Punk” chants echo throughout the crowd. Paige wins quickly, via submission, using the “Black Widow.” After the match, AJ Lee and Layla tangle, leading to AJ hitting Layla with a “Paige Turner.”
Next up is the arm wrestling competition between Rusev and Mark Henry. Mark Henry wins, yet Rusev and Lana want a rematch, in which the two behemoths now go left-handed. Instead, Lana quickly throws powder in Henry’s eyes, and Rusev attacks him. Rusev stands tall with the Russian flag dropped from the rafters. Throughout the “match,” the crowd was hot, rallying for Henry.
Backstage, Chris Jericho is interviewed by Renee Young. Jericho talks about his match with Randy Orton at “Night of Champions,” saying Orton “will never be the same again!”
4. Dolph Ziggler and R-Truth def. The Miz and Damien Mizdow– R-Truth is in Dolph Ziggler grab, acting as a Ziggler stunt double named “R-Ziggler,” in order to mock Mizdow. This match serves as a comedic release, as the teams are mirroring each other. R-Ziggler hits a “Zig-Zag” on Mizdow, while Miz is jawing with the referee. This allows Ziggler to pick up the victory via pinfall.
Nikki Bella is interviewed by Byron Saxton. She talks about the ordeal with Brie Bella on the Sept. 8 “Monday Night Raw,” with Jerry Springer involved. Nikki shifts her focus to “Night of Champions,” leading to AJ Lee interrupting, and finally Divas Champion Paige. Nikki Bella remains confident, saying the Triple Threat match at “Night of Champions” for the title will be easy.
5. Roman Reigns and Chris Jericho def. Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns- Jericho gets the win for his team with a small package, pinning Orton. Rollins and Reigns were not able to dictate the finish of the match, as the two brawled out into the crowd, just prior to the finish. After the match, Roman Reigns sets his sights on Orton, but Rollins returns to even the odds. However, Reigns is still able to “Superman Punch” Orton, then deliver a spear to Rollins, standing tall to close “Smackdown.”
