WWE aired its 2015 “Elimination Chamber” event exclusively on the WWE Network on May 31. The event saw two matches contested inside the chamber structure, both of which saw championship gold on the line. In the second Elimination Chamber match, Ryback became the new WWE Intercontinental Champion.
Among the matches not contested inside the chamber structure, the most notable result would see NXT Champion Kevin Owens defeat United States Champion John Cena. Surprising many in, perhaps all of those in the WWE Universe, Owens pinned Cena one two three in the middle of the ring cleanly. Owens’ victory of WWE’s top dog for the past 10 years came off of a second “Pop-up Powerbomb” delivered to Cena.
That same night, WWE took the time to announce that Owens and Cena will be doing battle once again. In a rematch from “Elimination Chamber,” the two champions will square off at WWE’s next pay-per-view, “Money in the Bank.” The 2015 edition of the event will take place on June 14 in Columbus, Ohio at the Nationwide Arena.
Editor’s Note
Welp. I really thought that Kevin Owens would be involved in the Money in the Bank Ladder match. After beating Cena cleanly, it will be intriguing to see if Owens gets the best of him once again.
