On Tuesday, June 23, WWE taped the June 25 edition of “Smackdown” in Toledo, Ohio.
Below are spoilers for the June 25 “Smackdown:”
The show began with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, Kane, and Joey Mercury in the ring. Jamie Noble, who suffered three broken ribs at the hands of Brock Lesnar, was not on hand tonight. The reunited Authority brethren acknowledged Noble’s injury and absence. Ryback interrupted, which resulted in him being placed in a match with Kane for later in the night. Additionally, Rollins issued an open challenge to Dean Ambrose for a “fight.”
1) Sheamus def. Dolph Ziggler (w/ Lana-) Sheamus bested Ziggler thanks to a distraction from Rusev. Afterwards, Summer Rae applauded Rusev, winking at him backstage.
2) Alicia Fox (w/ The Bella Twins) def. Naomi (w/ Tamina Snuka-) At one point in the match, The Bella Twins were at the receiving end of a double super kick from Naomi and Tamina.
3) WWE Intercontinental Champion Ryback def. Kane via disqualification in a non-title match- Ryback won the match after Big Show attacked him for a second time. Originally, the action spilled out to the entrance ramp, where Show first took aim at Ryback. Show proceeded to throw “The Big Guy” back in the ring for a waiting Kane. To Show’s dismay, Ryback kicked out of a pinfall attempt at two. Eventually, this would prompt Show’s second attack, which caused the disqualification. Afterwards, Show and Kane double teamed Ryback, leaving him out cold. Many fans in attendance believed Ryback was seriously hurt, but those concerns were gone after he wrestled in the show’s dark match, following the main event.
Backstage, The New Day and WWE Tag Team Champions The Prime Time Players took verbal jabs at each other.
4) WWE Tag Team Champions The Prime Time Players and The Lucha Dragons def. The New Day and Bo Dallas
Next, again backstage, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns chatted. Reigns continued to fall victim to Bray Wyatt’s mind games, despite Wyatt having no physical presence.
5) WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins def. Dean Ambrose in a non-title match- Rollins hit Ambrose with a “Pedigree” for the victory, making the most out of unseen interference by Joey Mercury.
