On the grandest stage of them all, WrestleMania, John Cena defeated then United States Champion Rusev to win the title for the fourth time in his career. Cena’s current reign with the United States Championship is his first in more than 10 years, last holding the title in early March of 2005.
According to a report from PWInsider, WWE may very well redesign the United States Championship during Cena’s reign. WWE officials have reportedly discussed the idea internally, and the idea has already been put in motion. It is said that artwork for the new United States Championship design is already in the works.
It is unclear if the new design will be specific to John Cena, or if the United States Championship as a whole will be getting a new design for continued use following Cena’s reign. During Cena’s third reign as the United States Champion, he released his own “spinner” version of the title. After Cena lost the title on March 2, 2005, it only took eight days for John Bradshaw Layfield to destroy it.
Editor’s Note
If I had to guess, I bet John Cena gets his own version of the United States Championship, which is only in use for his reign. Though, one thing is certain. Cena is holding that title for the foreseeable future, as he already has a t-shirt based around it and potentially his very own title design.
