While Ross was said to retire on Sept 11. in 2013, that was not the case. Immediately after his “retirement,” it became evident that he was actually fired by WWE due to his involvement in an out-of-control “WWE 2K14” panel during “SummerSlam” festivities in the year. Ross hosted the panel, which at times, became hectic due to commentary from Ric Flair. Some believed that both Flair and Ross were intoxicated, and WWE was extremely unhappy with the two. In due time, Ross would confirm that he was fired for his role that night.
Following this “retirement,” Jim Ross remained prevalent in the professional wrestling world. On his website, JRsBarBq.com, Ross would give his thoughts on various topics in the industry. Additionally, in 2014, he began his “Ross Report” podcast and hosts some of the biggest names in the business.
Ross also joined the Fox Sports team in 2014, and would make his return to commentary. He called a boxing match for the network in May of 2014.
