Coming out of the inaugural “Fastlane” pay-per-view, many WWE stars have set their sights on Bad News Barrett’s Intercontinental Championship. It began on the Feb. 23 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” which saw Dean Ambrose, R-Truth, and Dolph Ziggler all vying for the strap. R-Truth was on commentary for a match between Barrett and Ziggler, which the latter won. While on commentary, R-Truth campaigned to get a shot at the “IC” title. Ambrose, on the other hand, “stole” Barrett’s gold at “Fastlane,” and has kept it ever since.
On the Feb. 26 edition of “Smackdown,” even more WWE stars are involved in this storyline with Barrett’s “stolen” Intercontinental Championship. (contains spoilers)
Just prior to the Thursday, Feb. 26, showing of “Smackdown” going on the air, WWE made a huge announcement in regards to Barrett’s title defense at WrestleMania 31. On its Facebook page, WWE posted a “Breaking News” alert, announcing a multi-man Ladder match, which will see Barrett’s Intercontinental Championship on the line.
The post reads:
“BREAKING NEWS: Intercontinental Champion Bad News Barrett will defend his title against multiple WWE Superstar opponents in a Ladder Match on the Grandest Stage in Entertainment, WWE WrestleMania 31, LIVE Sunday, March 29 at 8e/5p on WWE Network. #31to31”
