Following his departure from TNA, Samoa Joe became the hottest free agent on the wrestling market. Tuesday, Ring of Honor published a promotional video announcing he would be returning to the company, and then issued a press release teasing him for its upcoming “13th Anniversary Spectacular.”

Now, one of Joe’s lifelong friends and former in-ring foes has himself teased one more match between the two.

Former WWE Champion CM Punk responded to an ambiguous tweet about Joe’s return:

The line by Punk is in reference to what he was allegedly told by Vince McMahon multiple times for him doing the chairman a favor, which he revealed on Colt Cabana’s podcast in November.

Many will recall, Punk and Joe had a monstrous feud in 2004 that, as noted by PWInsider, essentially saved the company amidst economic and political turmoil. It is also widely believed the program between the two put Punk on WWE’s map.

Punk himself is training for his upcoming UFC debut later this year, so a match anytime soon is likely not in the cards. However, it does bring to light an interesting dream scenario for many wrestling fans.
