WWE has recently published a list of ECW, WCW, and WWE pay-per-views that will be available on WWE Network, which launches on Feb. 24, shortly after “Monday Night Raw.” The list contains the infamous Over the Edge 1999 PPV, which struck tragedy for Owen Hart, his family, and his fellow WWE co-workers.
Similarly to WWE Network airing Chris Benoit footage, the infamous and controversial event will be available in the WWE Network on demand library, available at anytime for the WWE Universe. As of this writing, there is no word on whether any warning or advisory will air prior to the PPV, as there will be an advisory before any content including Benoit.
After Hart’s fall from his harness, the event was halted for over 15 minutes. However, despite the incident, the show continued to go on. As the event went on, Hart’s WWE co-workers and friends who worked the event were in great sorrow as they continued to preform.
Unfortunately, an hour after the PPV was restarted, WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross was faced with the difficult task to inform the PPV audience that Hart had passed away. Ross’ message to fans went as follows:
“Ladies and gentlemen, earlier tonight here in Kansas City, tragedy befell the World Wrestling Federation and all of us. Owen Hart was set to make an entrance from the ceiling, and he fell from the ceiling. I have the unfortunate responsibility to let everyone know that Owen Hart has died. Owen Hart has tragically died from that accident here tonight.”
