On the Feb. 17 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” the six competitors for the Elimination Chamber match for Randy Orton’s WWE World Heavyweight Championship were all in action. In fact, each WWE superstar went up against someone else that will be in that match. Randy Orton faced Sheamus in the main event, Daniel Bryan went one-on-one with Christian to open the show, and John Cena took on Cesaro.
Among the three matches, the match between Cena and Cesaro received the most applause from the WWE Universe. Although John Cena won the match with an “Attitude Adjustment,” Cesaro walked out of the match looking strong and more than just a dark horse in the upcoming Elimination Chamber match. During the match, Cesaro hit his patented “Cesaro Swing” on Cena for over 15 seconds in addition to his other signature moves such as his European uppercut.
Before their match, during last week’s “Monday Night Raw,” John Cena sat down with WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold Steve Austin” in order to record a podcast, which was released today, Feb. 18. During the interview, Cena hinted that Cesaro may become a main event caliber superstar in the near future. Additionally, during a WWE live event in Germany, Cena cut a promo in which he put over Cesaro to the European crowd.
According to F4WOnline, Cesaro received high praise backstage for his match with Cena during “Monday Night Raw.” In fact, the website reports that he was given a standing ovation from his fellow WWE coworkers.
Cesaro will look to feed off of this momentum and win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on Feb. 23 at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view.
