On Sunday, Aug. 17, Brock Lesnar will wrestle for the first time since conquering The Undertaker’s historic undefeated streak at WrestleMania. At “SummerSlam,” Lesnar will challenge John Cena for Cena’s WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Based on recent advertisements on WWE.com, it appears that Lesnar will be sticking around after the pay-per-view.
On the company’s website, Brock Lesnar is advertised for two showings of “Monday Night Raw” during the build to the “Night of Champions” pay-per-view. Lesnar has been added to the Aug. 18 edition of the program, the post-SummerSlam “Raw,” which emanates from the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nev. Additionally, “The Beast Incarnate” is advertised to appear for the Sept. 15 edition of “Raw,” which serves as the “go-home” show to the “Night of Champions” event. The show will take place from the Cajundome in Lafayette, La.
As we previously reported, Lesnar has been expected to compete at “Night of Champions.” Part of WWE’s reasoning for adding Lesnar to the event is that it wants to build “Night of Champions” like a WrestleMania caliber event. The event will be WWE’s first pay-per-view upon the first batch of WWE Network subscriptions expiring. Those who signed up on launch day, Feb. 24, will have their six month commitment end on Aug. 24. With the WWE Network’s early struggles, WWE will do everything in its power to entice people to renew their subscriptions, and attempt to gain new subscribers in the process.
Editor’s Note
Not surprised to see Lesnar start being advertised to appear on shows leading up to “Night of Champions.”
