On Wednesday, Jan. 7, the first edition of “Impact Wrestling” on Destination America was recored live, and then aired on tape delay. The show featured bits and pieces of the rebranding of “Impact Wrestling,” including its new logo and more reality driven content.
As noted on Thursday, Jan. 8, the showing of “Impact Wrestling” on its new home reportedly drew 263,000 viewers, not counting 105,000 viewers for the replay. In response, PWInsider published a report in regards to the staggering numbers. The website noted that on Friday, Jan. 9, many TNA officials and talent were upset about the number going around online. In fact, a top TNA executive informed the website the figure of 263,000 was wrong, and that it was only a demographic number.
The TNA executive was indeed true, as TVByTheNumbers would later report that “Impact Wrestling” viewership was actually 359,000. For adults aged 18-49, the show obtained 0.1 rating. In total, “Impact Wrestling” obtained 464,000 viewers on Wednesday night. Though, with the replay being factored in, it is unclear how many of the 464,000 viewers were unique.
PWInsider’s report would also note that Destination America is slated to issue a press release in regards to the ratings and viewership for its first showing of “Impact Wrestling.”
Editor’s Note
Not too bad of a number under the circumstances. I would expect it to increase in the coming weeks, but who knows.
