Tomorrow, Sunday, June 1, the first of two pay-per-view events in the month, “Payback” will air live on the WWE Network, in addition to cable and satellite providers on PPV. Despite the lackluster build to the event, the story within WWE is to expect the show to be a good one, according to F4WOnline.
This viewpoint exists within the company because of the recent NXT special, titled “NXT Takeover” on the WWE Network. The event got rave reviews from the fans within the WWE Universe, some going as far to say that it is better than the current WWE product.
The website reports that the story within WWE is that “Payback” will be a good show because the company cannot let one of its own pay-per-views be outperformed by its own developmental product.
Prior to the go-home show of “Monday Night Raw” for “Payback,” this notion that “NXT Takeover” would be better than “Payback” was already established. On our “Wrestling Warm Up” show on May 26, the WrestlingRumors.net staff and the Wrestling Rumors faithful talked about how NXT may very well be better than WWE.
Additionally, on a recent edition of “Wrestling Rumors Radio,” prior to “NXT Takeover,” our own Doug McDonald talked about how he is looking forward to “NXT Takeover” rather than “Payback.”
Editor’s Note
Despite what WWE thinks, I believe that “Payback” will still be outshined by NXT.
