Jim Ross recently re-signed with WWE, but it’s unclear how often he’ll be used. He did commentary for the WrestleMania 33 main event between The Undertaker and Roman Reigns, but we haven’t seen him on WWE television since.

According to Cageside Seats, we’re going to see JR pop in from time to time throughout the rest of this year, as he’s contractually obligated to work around 40 dates for WWE this year. That doesn’t necessarily mean that he’ll be a part of the commentary team on 40 separate occasions, as he’ll likely be used for either the Raw, SmackDown, or pay-per-view pre and post shows most of the time.

As of right now, it doesn’t look like JR will be a regular part of the commentary team for either brand. Some people were hoping that he’d step in for Mauro Ranallo, but sadly, that’s not going to be the case, as WWE is content with Tom Phillips in the role.
