Brock Lesnar was advertised to appear on this past Monday’s episode of Raw, which means that Paul Heyman was scheduled to appear as well, but neither of them appeared during the televised version of the show. However, they did appear in front of the live crowd after the show went off the air, where Lesnar laid out, you guessed it, Big Show.
So, the question is: why use up a Brock Lesnar date for an appearance at Raw that won’t be televised? Well, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter may have the answer.
“Yeah, I don’t understand [why Lesnar wasn’t on TV] because it’s not like the show was so loaded that you couldn’t [have him on]. Maybe because it was New York and they didn’t want him to get cheered so much. I was trying to come up with a reason why you wouldn’t have Paul Heyman do a promo in Brooklyn, because it would’ve gotten an incredible reaction. Maybe that’s why, because it would’ve gotten an incredible reaction.”
WWE has done this with Lesnar in the past, where they advertise him for Raw, he doesn’t appear on television, and then he comes out after the show is off the air and lays out Big Show.
