It looks like we’re not too far away from Brock Lesnar’s current WWE deal coming to an end, as it will expire following next year’s WrestleMania in New Orleans. The question now is, will he re-sign next spring, will he make another UFC comeback, or will he retire?
On Thursday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer weighed in on whether or not Lesnar will stay with WWE when his contract comes to an end next year.
“I’m presuming that they’ll keep it going. As far as from [Brock Lesnar’s] perspective, why wouldn’t he? And from [WWE’s] perspective, you don’t know, but they don’t like losing top guys so I would think that they’ll keep him.”
One year ago, Brock Lesnar made his return to the UFC at UFC 200, where he defeated Mark Hunt via unanimous decision. Shortly following the bout, we learned that Lesnar had failed a pre-fight drug test, and he was suspended for one year as a result. So, by the time his WWE contract comes to an end, he’ll be free and clear to fight again if he chooses to.
Lesnar did announce earlier this year that he’s not planning on fighting again, as he officially retired from the sport of mixed martial arts. So, if he really isn’t planning on fighting again, he’ll probably stay with WWE.
