The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported earlier this week that the finish of the Cruiserweight Championship match at last Sunday’s Payback show was changed at the last minute, as Neville was originally supposed to win. Instead, Aries defeated Neville via disqualification.

“The finishes were clearly out yesterday, and in two cases the finishes changed,” said Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio. “In the [Neville vs. Austin Aries] match, Neville was supposed to win and then, I guess it would’ve been [on Sunday] they made the call to have Austin Aries win via DQ.”

According to Cageside Seats, WWE decided to change the finish because they want to continue the Neville vs. Aries program, which will likely end at next month’s Extreme Rules show. They also noted that WWE will likely add TJ Perkins to the match, making it a triple threat match for the Cruiserweight Championship.
