AJ Styles has been the face of the SmackDown brand ever since the brand extension draft back in July, and for good reason. He’s easily the most talent guy on WWE’s blue brand, and he’s probably the most talented guy in the entire company.
Pro Wrestling Illustrated recently released their awards issue, where readers agreed that Styles was the most talented superstar in WWE, as they selected him as 2016’s “Wrestler of the Year.” He earned 51 percent of the votes.
Styles is currently scheduled to defend his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against John Cena at the Royal Rumble, which will probably be the match that steals the show.
2015’s PWI “Wrestler of the Year” award was won by Seth Rollins, who spent nearly the entire year as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Of course, his title reign was cut short due to a knee injury that he suffered during a house show match against Kane.
