WWE still hasn’t officially announced that Shane McMahon will wrestle AJ Styles at WrestleMania, so it’s still a “rumored” match. But, yeah, we all know it’s happening. In fact, they’ll probably make it official on Tuesday’s SmackDown.
On Wednesday, Sirius XM’s Sam Roberts spoke with AJ Styles, and he asked the Phenomenal One if he’d rather be in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match instead of the rumored match with Shane McMahon.
“I look forward to WrestleMania. You gotta know that this is something I never thought I’d have the opportunity to be in. I remember watching the WWE Network, and going ‘wow, I’m never gonna be in a WrestleMania.’ I tried to play the game and say ‘it’s not a big deal to me.’ It kinda is because it’s WrestleMania. It’s the biggest thing going on when it comes to what we do. So that was a big deal, and when it comes to being at WrestleMania, especially considering all the talent that we have, to actually be there… Think about how many championships we have, there’s no way we can defend them all at WrestleMania. So, to be part of WrestleMania is a big deal to me.”
Styles didn’t directly address Roberts’ Shane McMahon question, but you could tell that he’s just cool with being a part of WWE’s biggest show of the year, no matter what his role is in it.
