Paige's Dad Is Pissed Off At WWE

Paige comes from a prolific English wrestling family. Her father Ricky Knight–a former wrestler himself–is the owner of the World Association of Wrestling promotion. He’s very upset with WWE over some impending plans.

WWE is finally following up on their UK Tournament with a new UK show that will run on Saturday, May 6th and Sunday, May 7th. It seems that WAW is running an event in the same venue near the same date, and Ricky seems to feel that WWE is conspiring against him.

That’s according to an interview with a BBC affiliate, which is transcribed for us by Pro Wrestling Sheet.

“They could’ve left it until Monday,” Ricky said. “They know we’re doing so well. They follow us religiously, it seems like they do. They would’ve known this is the biggest weekend in WAW history. To me they wanted to cut us open with the announcement this morning and putting their tickets sales on tonight. But tough guys, because this is going to be a sellout tonight anyway. Go and do your best.”

WWE is certainly trying to make inroads with their UK brand, but going specifically going after a local indie, especially one with familial ties to the subject of a new Rock-backed motion picture. That seems a bit of a stretch.
