The McMahons have had a monopoly over wrestling events in Madison Square Garden for decades. The world’s most famous arena helped build WWE’s brand and there have been countless great moments inside “The Garden.” However, it seems WWE’s dynamic with Madison Square Garden management has become strained over recent months.
According to PWInsider, AAA is looking to hold an event at Madison Square Garden this September. There have also been rumors about ‘All In 2’ happening inside the arena. It’s believed that WWE has an agreement to refuse dates for other wrestling promotions in the arena. However, MSG management would only become more frustrated with WWE.

Apparently, MSG officials are upset with WWE officials for running most of their events out of the Barclays Center in Brooklyn instead of their arena. This August will be the 4th straight year that Barclays has hosted Summerslam weekend. The final straw was WWE announcing all their WrestleMania 35 events for Barclays which left MSG with nothing.
As a result, Madison Square Garden officials are more open to hosting other wrestling promotions and events in the future. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but it seems the opportunity for wrestling companies to strike would be now because The McMahons may not have a monopoly on wrestling inside Madison Square Garden for much longer.

Theoretically, it would be quite the sight to see other wrestling shows hosted inside “the world’s most famous arena.” New Japan Pro Wrestling, ROH, Lucha Underground and a few others would show New York there is more wrestling in the world than. The two sides might work out their differences, but this could be very exciting for the industry.
