Last year, it was announced that WWE’s “Greatest Show of the Summer” would be four hours long and rival Wrestlemania for time.
“Summerslam” is infamous for being the second biggest event in WWE during the calendar year, but it seems that last year WWE set up a new tradition for “Summerslam” this year as well.
According to a report from Wrestlezone.com, this year’s Summerslam on August 21st will be four hours and WWE has already begun sending out emails informing the WWE Universe that the event will being at 6 p.m.
Typically, a PPV’s kickoff show would begin at 7 and then from 8 to 11 o’clock would be the actual PPV, but this year’s “Summerslam” will have the preshow from 6 to 7 and the event from 7 to 11.
It was recently reported that many WWE PPVs could go over the 11 o’clock hour, so it’s possible that the event could go past 11 depending on the performances, match times, and other factors.
Four hours is a long time for a wrestling PPV, but it’s going to be the first for the company after the brand extension.
Therefore, many new stars from NXT and the main roster will be able to get their first experience with “Summerslam.” It’s going to be a massive evening no matter what the card is that night.
Are you okay with “Summerslam being four hours long?
