After the WWE Draft, the roster for Raw and SmackDown looked very uneven. While SmackDown had the WWE Championship and Intercontinental Championship, Raw had the Tag Team title, United States Championship, and the WWE Women’s Championship. The brand will also have the WWE Universal Championship soon.
Meanwhile, SmackDown has nothing for their Women’s division to chase and nothing for the Tag Teams of the brand to fight over on the show every week, which creates a huge problem to establish who’s who on the brand.
According to a report from RingSideNews.com, WWE isn’t planning on introducing any new championships on SmackDown until after “Summerslam.”
The reason is because WWE officials don’t want the titles to feel forced into the PPV card, and they don’t want there to be too many matches for vacant titles during one event, even if it will be four hours long.
On September 11th, SmackDown will be having “Backlash” as the brand’s first exclusive PPV, so that is a prime place for Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan to book those matches to establish more titles.
There are a lot of questions about what new titles are coming to SmackDown, but one is definitely going to involve the Women’s division, and the other is most likely going to be a Tag Team Championship.
What titles to do you want to see introduced to SmackDown?
