Earlier today, we reported that Sasha Banks would want to be drafted to SmackDown if she was given the choice because all of her favorite wrestlers performed there after the first WWE Draft in the early 00’s.
She’s not the only one because “The Underdog From the Underground” revealed that he would also welcome being drafted to SmackDown, but for different reasons.
During a recent short WWE exclusive interview, Sami Zayn gave his opinion on SmackDown going live in July and where he’d like to end up after the brand split.
You can watch the full interview right here. Below are some of the highlights:
What was your reaction to the news that SmackDown would be going live this July?
“I thought it was a long time coming honestly. I think with two distinct rosters on Raw and SmackDown, it kind of gives many more talents a lot more chance to flourish and be highlighted. I just think with the number of new faces coming in from NXT, this is a great thing. It’s pretty exciting for so many reasons. It gives you something to look forward to. Something new and something different. It’s great.”
With two distinct rosters, do you have any preference where you end up?
“I don’t know. I really don’t know. Raw is obviously the flagship. It’s been the standard bearer for WWE for such a long time, but I feel like in the case of SmackDown we have a chance to establish something that isn’t nearly as established as Raw just like we did with NXT. We have an opportunity to take it to new heights. So, that prospect always excites me.
I’d make the most out of either situation, but I think there is a lot more room for growth with SmackDown. There is a lot more untapped potential with SmackDown.”
