Rumor: WWE Was Expecting Positive Reaction For Eva Marie’s Main Roster Return

In a surprising move, Eva Marie was brought back up to WWE’s main roster this past Monday on Raw.

She returned and joined the “Total Divas” team, and she’ll be joining Alicia Fox, Brie Bella, Natalya, and Paige to face Emma, Lana, Summer Rae, and Team BAD on the Wrestlemania pre-show.

Unsurprisingly to many fans, Eva Marie did not receive a warm reception from the WWE Universe during her return. However, this was apparently a surprise for many WWE officials.

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, many WWE officials were expecting Eva to receive a positive reaction from the main roster crowd in Brooklyn because it was a surprise return.

Yes, Eva Marie is a heel in NXT and has been consistently booed by the live crowds during her time there, but the belief from WWE officials is that NXT crowds think differently than the main roster crowds and Eva’s ties to Total Divas would have given her a positive response.

It’s bizarrely plausible that Eva Marie could have received a positive reaction in another city, but Brooklyn is a tough crowd.

Not only is it a New York crowd, but it was also the home of NXT Takeover: Brooklyn last year that brought us Bayley vs. Sasha Banks. Why would WWE believe that an NXT town would change their minds about Eva Maire simply because she’s on the main roster?
