Jim Ross is regarded as the best wrestling announcer of all time. It’s hard to argue with that opinion in this industry when JR was the voice of WWF during the acclaimed Attitude Era.

Ross has also announced for Jim Crockett Promotions, WCW, and most recently, New Japan Pro Wrestling. In Boxing, he’s done commentary for Golden Boy Promotions on Fox Sports 1, and for MMA alongside Chael Sonnen at Battlegrounds MMA.

However, there have been rumors going around for quite some time that Jim Ross was potentially signing with TNA. Ross has been vocal about TNA’s future and their new television deal with PopTV.

While JR keeps tabs on TNA and any wrestling promotion would welcome his voice to their product, TNA is actually in good shape with their announce team. D’Angelo Dinero, Mike Tenay, Josh Matthews, and Jeremy Borash do a wonderful job with TNA’s commentary, so the rumors of JR signing came out of left field.

In an update on those rumors, it has been confirmed by Jim Ross himself on Twitter that there is NO truth to the rumors of him signing with TNA. JR posted the following tweet:

At least for the time being, JR won’t be commentating for TNA wrestling as of this writing. It’s most likely that JR retired from full-time commentating when he retired from WWE
