Yesterday, WWE had a live event in Huntington, West Virginia. The new WWE World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus was in a match with Roman Reigns that ended in a disqualification.

After the finish, a fan threw an empty glass bottle at Sheamus’ head. The WWE Champion is fine. The fan was taken down and away by security. The following tweet was made from a fan in attendance:

It’s ironic that Sheamus was involved in the altercation because WWE has recently made massive changes and increased the levels of security for fans attending WWE events.

Due to the numerous instances of fan interference over the summer during WWE events and the recent ISIS threats last week, Huntington, West Virginia’s local news, WCHS-TV reported that WWE fans attended the event were specifically asked to arrive early and went through the levels of security WWE now requires.

For example, any fans that had a backpack, purse, or carry-on bag was required to pour the contents into a clear bag and return their carry-on bag to their vehicle.

This level of security is what WWE plans to have at all their events from this point forward. The extra security should provide most fans with the safety they need to enjoy the show they paid for, but the incident with Sheamus only proves that the few will find a way to get involved and attempt to ruin the show for all others.
