Shortly before “Extreme Rules” last night, it was officially announced after a weekend full of speculation that Cody Rhodes had been released by WWE at his request.
Cody made a full statement shortly after the announcement was made official on WWE.com. In a nutshell, he blamed issues with WWE creative and frustration is the glass ceiling as the cause of his decision.
Although he didn’t necessarily bad mouth the company, there is absolutely some hard feelings between Rhodes and WWE after his release from the company over the weekend.
According to a report from DailyWrestlingNews.com, it was noted on Wrestling Observer Radio earlier today that WWE officials are making it quite difficult for Cody to do anything contractually with another promotion.
Again, in a nutshell, the relationship between Cody Rhodes and WWE is said not to be amicable right now.
It’s now coming to light that Cody put a lot of effort into ending the Stardust character and bringing back Cody Rhodes shortly after Wrestlemania 32.
However, the idea was nixed. It’s being said that both Triple H and Vince McMahon were against the idea, but it was mainly Vince who dropped the hammer and said no, which eventually led Cody to be creatively done in WWE.
Do you think WWE made a big mistake not bringing back Cody Rhodes as an on-screen character?
