There is some debate about the impact WWE crowds can have on the product. A lot of people don’t appreciate a crowd “hijacking” a show to chant something, but others are in the camp that the fans can do whatever they want since they are the consumers.
Last night edition of Raw is a clear example because the Scotland crowd took over the women’s segment with chants for Bayley. In many ways, it’s distracting. However, I tend to look at a “hijacking” as a clear message from the WWE fans to the powers that be.
European crowds are a little unpredictable, but in many way they provide key insight to the way the WWE Universe feels and they can start trends. From my perspective, the Scotland crowd simply said, Bayley is awesome. You should push her immediately.”
WWE officials were already planning to push Bayley after “Survivor Series.” Charlotte vs. Bayley is clearly coming, so all the crowd did last night was cement that the latter is the future of Raw’s women’s division. They didn’t say anything we already didn’t know.
She’s had to take a backseat for a few months while Charlotte and Sasha Banks feuded, but now it’s Bayley’s turn to shine and last night should have been clear message to the powers that be to take her very seriously.
Do you think Bayley is the next Raw Women’s Champion?
