I know that Dean Ambrose is the one with the gimmick for being insane, but there are a lot of rumors going around that Ambrose will lose the WWE Championship next week on Monday Night Raw.

Even if he survives Seth Rollins one on one, he must defend the WWE title against Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns at “Battleground” six days later. That’s a lot for The Lunatic Fringe to tackle in a week, but it would build him into the true WWE Champion and the top guy in the company.

I get WWE’s logic. If they do a title change on Raw, Battleground, or both, the chaos and unpredictability will be at a fever pitch just as WWE enters the brand extension. It’s a great strategy, but it sacrifices their top star.

My problem with it is how WWE books Dean Ambrose. This is a key opportunity to build him as the top guy because that is exactly what he is in WWE.

He’s not more talented than Rollins or more controversial than Reigns, but he has the great ability to keep up with both men in different ways, which makes him the far more versatile star of the trio.

He’s also the only one of the three who has had consistent face loyalty from the WWE Universe. That’s at an apex right now, and if he’s always going to play second or even third place to Rollins and Reigns, he’ll never be able to get ahead and become a legitimate WWE Champion. He needs the win far more than Reigns or Rollins.

Do you think Dean Ambrose will hold onto the WWE Championship through “Battleground?”
