Yesterday, it was revealed through a rumor that Rey Mysterio may be considering a return to WWE before Wrestlemania 32, and he could wrestle one more time on the grandest stage of them all.
A lot of people who have heard this rumor don’t believe it because of his contract with AAA and being a part of Lucha Underground’s second season.
If everything works out for Mysterio to return to WWE, the ultimate question is who his opponent would be at what could be his final Wrestlemania match?
On paper, the best matchup could be a United States Championship match with Kalisto. Alberto Del Rio has done a great job putting him over, but a one on one match with Rey Mysterio would be a career maker for Kalisto, especially if he were able to win.
Their matchup isn’t just about both of them being luchadors, but it’s a way to transition that style into the future by the most well-known luchador in WWE history puts over the next generation and the new face of Lucha Libre wrestling in WWE.
This could also provide a great opportunity for a retirement match or a final WWE match for him since his ending in WWE wasn’t one of the strongest. Kalisto vs. Mysterio simply makes too much sense for WWE not to pull it off if Mysterio is available for Wrestlemania season.
